Build and publish a unit website
Create pages, themes, navigation, staff and event sections, galleries, and a public subdomain while controlling what Cadet data may appear.
Guide at a glance
How to use this guide
Start with
Identify the audience, publication state, owner, dates, and data that may safely be made public.
By the end
The tool has a clear lifecycle from draft through operation to closure, with public exposure deliberately controlled.
Claim the public address
An instructor chooses a unique slug for the unit at slug.sites.allcadets.com. The slug is normalized and checked against reserved names before it is claimed.
The site can also be previewed through supported query and shared-path forms before wildcard hosting is involved.
Set site-wide identity
Site settings control the public name, brand color, accent color, heading type, body type, and navigation order. Navigation labels can differ from page titles.
These choices apply to every published page. The editor keeps a draft until Save.
Create pages and clean paths
Each page has a title, path, search description, ordered section list, and Draft or Live status. The first page can use an empty path as the home page.
Duplicate paths are refused. A page must belong to a published site before it can become live.
Available page sections
| Section | Content |
|---|---|
| Hero | Eyebrow, headline, introduction, button label, and link. |
| Rich text | A heading and body content. |
| Staff | A live staff listing with introductory text. |
| Events | Upcoming unit calendar events with a configurable limit. |
| Gallery | Uploaded images with alt descriptions and captions. |
| Contact | Email, phone, address, and introductory copy. |
Edit beside a responsive preview
Sections can be added, reordered, hidden, edited, or removed while the responsive preview shows the current page and theme.
Hidden sections stay in the editor but are excluded from the public projection. Saving changes to an already-live page makes those changes visible immediately.
Cadet listings are off by default
Instructors may appear in staff sections. Publishing Cadet names, ranks, positions, and profile photos requires an explicit site-wide switch and should be reviewed against school consent policy.
Public projections allow-list fields rather than spreading internal records. New private fields do not become public automatically.
Take a page or the whole site offline
Returning a page to Draft removes that page from public view. Taking the site offline removes every page while preserving drafts and settings.
Deleting a page removes its sections and is irreversible; unpublishing is the reversible choice.
