Personal settings and Windows desktop privacy
Know which details each person can update, which fields remain unit-controlled, and how the desktop app handles offline data and diagnostics.
Guide at a glance
How to use this guide
Start with
Have the person’s exact account email, unit, role, roster link, and any held position available before changing access.
By the end
The person can reach what their duty requires, cannot reach unrelated areas, and remains individually attributable.
Personal fields
Each signed-in person can maintain their own first name, last name, gender, phone, date of birth, personal email, school email, home address, and supported profile imagery.
These edits affect the person’s canonical profile and are distinct from an instructor changing unit assignment data.
Unit-controlled fields
Sign-in email, unit, rank, position, course level, and grade are shown read-only in Settings. Change them through the relevant account, roster, or unit process.
This prevents a Cadet from self-assigning authority by editing the personal profile screen.
Desktop offline preference
The Windows app can keep recently viewed Firebase data available offline on that Windows account. Enable it only on a trusted operating-system profile.
Changing the preference signs the person out and clears existing local Firebase data so the persistence policy changes cleanly.
Export diagnostics
The desktop app can export a diagnostics bundle for support. It is intended to describe local app state, connectivity, and version behavior—not to replace a roster export.
Review the bundle before sending and use the support channel requested for the investigation.
