Reports & studio
Build reports in Studio and export PDF, Word, or Excel
Design roster-backed pages with live fields, conditional content, record tables, reusable scope, multi-page output, and office exports.
Guide at a glance
How to use this guide
Start with
Decide the audience, record scope, fields, and output format before arranging the design.
By the end
The output answers its intended question, uses current data, and exposes no unnecessary information.
Choose scope without redesigning
Scope can represent the whole unit, a battalion, a company, or selected Cadets. It lives in the URL, so reload and browser navigation preserve the current run.
Saving also stores the visible scope as that report’s starting point. It remains changeable every time the report is opened.
Place static and live elements
- Text, shapes, lines, and images for the page structure.
- Unit and Cadet fields that resolve from the current binding.
- Record tables that query matching roster rows.
- Calculated totals using the same query as the table.
- Conditional elements that appear only when roster data matches a rule.
Record tables are saved queries
A table stores columns, field formatting, filters, sort behavior, borders, headings, totals, and layout. It is not a screenshot of today’s rows.
If matching rows exceed the frame, print planning continues the table across pages. The design indicates when rows would otherwise be omitted.
Canvas behavior
The editor supports selection, grouping, copy and paste, alignment guides, layers, drag insertion, zoom, fit-to-page, undo, redo, and in-place text editing. Ctrl+S saves the report rather than invoking the browser’s Save Page command.
The screen preview and PDF exporter share the document model so layout differences are treated as defects rather than expected behavior.
Per-Cadet jobs
A report that needs an individual Cadet can be run for multiple selected people. Each copy begins on a new page while using the same layout.
A general report can instead narrow every element to selected Cadets without creating one sheet per person. The picker explains which behavior the document requires.
Choose the right output
| Format | Result |
|---|---|
| The page exactly as designed, including multi-page continuation. | |
| Word | Editable text and tables derived from the report data. |
| Excel | Every matching row in a sortable workbook-oriented export. |
| The complete planned job through the browser print path. |
Review data exposure before export
The report permission can reveal fields across the whole roster. Check scope, selected Cadets, visible fields, and page count before creating a file.
Once downloaded, the file is outside All Cadets access controls.
Key terms in this guide
- Scope
- The records or formations within which a permission, report, tool, or action applies.
